Spring Bonnet

Published by jlm004 at 9:54 am under Uncategorized Edit This

My daughter absolutely loves this activity.  I don’t know what little girl wouldn’t love making and wearing her very own spring bonnet.

Items that you will need:

     -Paper plate

     -Pencil/pen or single hole punch

     -Ribbon or string

     -Construction paper

     -Scissors

     -Fake/fabric flowers (optional)

-Anything else that would make a bonnet ”fancy and fun”  (for example-crinkly paper, foam cut outs or characters, Styrofoam eggs on picks)

     -Tape and/or glue

You will start by poking a hole with the pen/pencil or punching a hole with the hole puncher on each end of the paper plate.  This is to tie the string or ribbon to in order to secure the bonnet to your child’s head.  Next, cut two lengths of string or ribbon the same size and tie them to the plate.  Now you can allow your child to decorate her bonnet with the materials that you have provided.  Cut flower shapes and grass out of the construction paper.  Secure the foam shapes and Styrofoam eggs with tape and/or glue.

When your child is finished decorating her spring bonnet make sure that everything is secure enough.  Placed it on your child’s head and tie the string or ribbon under her chin.  She will have a beautiful spring bonnet to wear for the season.
